A little off the topic but check the /etc/hosts file (with the "less"
command). This contains address entries that are resolved locally. Next
look at the /etc/resolv.conf if you have one. If you don't have one, then
names are resolved with a nameserver running on the local linux box. Feel
free to contact me off list if you'd like.

Broken DNS configuration.

Do you use DHCP to configure it or is it lovingly entered manually?

Make that definite: it also can't ping GOOGLE.

And I haven't the slightest idea how the DNS configuration was entered,
or even how to look at it. All I have is an SSH connection to a box
that's physically located at a colocation facility.
