The internal search function is temporarily non-functional. The current search engine is no longer viable and we are researching alternatives.
As a stop gap measure, we are using Google's custom search engine service.
If you know of an easy to use, open source, search engine ... please contact support@midrange.com.
Yuriy: interesting. That supports my thought that it's something else
that caused the problem.
Neill: yes DNS was/is working fine for all other uses (email, ping, ftp,
etc.). However, the ones specified on CHGTCPDMN are local DNS servers,
so maybe there's a problem with them being too slow. The java is
running on the AS400. I have no idea if (as suggested by Joe Sam) it's
trying to open all schemas on the AS400.
Simon: you're probably right - something else in the network changed,
but no one is claiming any responsibility. The lack of a smoking gun
that would show CHGTCPDMN was used pretty much proves the point I
think. Unless someone is changing QATOCTCPIP in QUSRSYS, which is very
unlikely.
I'm still waiting for the results of changing it back to *REMOTE and
trying it tonight. I'll post back when I hear the results of that test.
In the meantime, I'm curious about how the Java program is doing system
commands. Why does it have to (apparently) sign on? Is it using the
database connection to do them? Isn't there a more direct way?
