I vaguely recall that the ability to go backwards in a resultset was not
initially available, but added later. Perhaps it would be a good thing
to see if the JDBC driver available in the jt400 toolbox on the machine
implements this feature?

I have not used it personally but looked into it some years ago.

You can read backward and forward in scrollable results sets, but only an
absolute number of records. You cannot position by key, and of course if
your result set doesn't contain the records the user wants, you have to
create a new one. Refer to my post to Carl regarding the basic "work with"
type of application. Dead simple using ISAM, a pain in the butt with SQL.
