Hi In your reply to Murali, you mentioned that you are have been giving seminars to user groups on integrating Java and RPG. Are any close to the Detroit area? Thank you, D Fairbairn "Joe Pluta" <joepluta@plutabr others.com> To Sent by: "'Java Programming on and around java400-l-bounces the iSeries / AS400'" @midrange.com <java400-l@xxxxxxxxxxxx> cc 08/30/2006 06:27 Subject PM RE: front end Java and back end AS/400 Please respond to Java Programming on and around the iSeries / AS400 <java400-l@midran ge.com> (Thanks for the plug, Murali!) Joe, there are a number of way to integrate Java and RPG. I have lately been giving a seminar on that very topic (among others) to user groups around the country. As with many such broad questions, the best path depends on your application. In general, calling RPG from Java is easily accomplished through the use of the RPG toolbox. From your question, it sounds like you are probably trying to develop a web application using Java and then invoking RPG business logic. This is my favorite architecture, and one that works very well sing the ProgramCall classes from the toolbox. I agree with Joe Sam that stored procedures are not the best choice but for somewhat different reasons; with the toolbox classes you have much better control over your environment, including things like library lists. The toolbox is also very, very fast. Joe
