So, should I worry about those jobs being out there for so long in TIMW 
status?  Or is it normal.  Or am I forgetting to close the connections 
somewhere in my app?

That's the ODBC/JDBC server job.  Every time you open a JDBC connection
to the iSeries, it connects to one of these jobs.
