It was a good exercise, and we later used it as our guinea pig for switching from JSP to Velocity. NetBeans has an excellent task list add-on module, available from the Beta Update Center (User Tasks / Task List Editor Support). It has support for category, owner, % complete, etc. and the task list can be shared via CVS.
