Barbara, I did get the example to work from the link you provided. However, the first call to a Java method still takes around 15+ seconds. We are using JDK 1.4. I am not sure if that's a problem or not since the JNI Module defines OS400_JVM_12. Do your method calls perform quickly? The procedure that starts the JVM is very simple, and it doesn't retrieve the CLASSPATH environment variable, so the system's default classpath (just the base classes) is being used. I think if you use the code at the link I posted, you should be ok. (I would just let RPG start the JVM, though. It's much easier that way.)
