Record locking on a DB2 database?

Does anyone have any good examples of record locking on a db2 database 
from Java servlets?  The head coder for the web here suggested for me to 
create a class called recordlock so that it's generic and then use that 
for all my recordlock checking, but I'm completely lost, he's on vacation, 
and I have to have this done this weekend.  So.... I'm begging for some 
sort of example.  I kinda got the jist of what they want, but I don't know 
where to start.  TIA,
