This is wrong.
There are several ways you can control the Java version.

You can specify it in the Java command:
java -Djava.version=1.4

You can also supply it as a parameter in the OS400 JAVA command:
PROP(java.version 1.4)

There are 2 other ways to set the default version by using the SystemDefault.properties files in the user home directory or in the /QIBM/UserData/Java400 directory.

        How does the system know what JVM to invoke and more importantly
