Joe, I dislike the way RPG supports NULL. In my case, its not the %nullind() bif but the fact that you can't have a null RPG variable. Basically, I don't see much difference between if myField <> *ALL9; //do something endif; and if not %nullind(myField); //do something endif; Though I must admit I think that an SQL style test would be prettier.. if myField is not NULL; //do something endif; What I dislike is having to code: if noDataFlag; %nullind(myField) = *ON; else; %nullind(myField) = *OFF; myField = myVariable; endif; instead of simply being able to do: myField = myVariable; Just my $.02 Charles Wilt -- iSeries Systems Administrator / Developer Mitsubishi Electric Automotive America ph: 513-573-4343 fax: 513-398-1121 > -----Original Message----- > From: java400-l-bounces@xxxxxxxxxxxx > [mailto:java400-l-bounces@xxxxxxxxxxxx]On Behalf Of Joe Pluta > Sent: Friday, June 17, 2005 1:35 PM > To: 'Java Programming on and around the iSeries / AS400' > Subject: RE: Date() > > > > From: RPower@xxxxxxxxxx > > > > Sorry... guess old RPG habits are hard to ignore..... > > I'll conform.
