One quick way would be for the Java program to use the toolbox to wait
on a data queue. Then the native program could just send a message
whenever it needed to. Personally, I prefer calling an RPG program
which in turn waits on the data queue; that separates the Java program
from the specifics of the data queue. But that's me. Another person
might stick the call to the RPG program in a stored procedure and then
use JDBC to access it. There are lots of ways to accomplish this
particular goal.
