>so you are going to call RPG for db access (RLA?) With the ServiceProgramCall and ProgramCall classes. Right now we are using a model that Joe Pluta gave us when we had him come in house last week for some training. Java does the UI and RPG is the application controller, business logic and data access. We were skeptical that the system would work and be fast enough, but it ABSOLUTELY SCREAMS! The screens operate as fast or faster than many of our other companies on green screens. I wish it was outside the firewall so I could post a URL but it isn't. I mean, you somehow have to fill all kind of objects with the actual data, dont you? Or do you want to create business components in RPG (not only a db layer as my first asumption), so that there is just no need for holding data objects in java. If you want to get serious with persistence from the java world, try JDO and dont waste time with Entity Beans which get totally refactored in the EJB3 Group while we are writing here. Perhaps if EJB3 is out, its an option again, but at the moment, its just a pain in the a*** :-) -- regards Marc Logemann http://www.logemann.org -- "Programming is like Sex, one mistake and you support it for a lifetime" -- This is the Java Programming on and around the iSeries / AS400 (JAVA400-L) mailing list To post a message email: JAVA400-L@xxxxxxxxxxxx To subscribe, unsubscribe, or change list options, visit: http://lists.midrange.com/mailman/listinfo/java400-l or email: JAVA400-L-request@xxxxxxxxxxxx Before posting, please take a moment to review the archives at http://archive.midrange.com/java400-l.
