Not at all. I've been saying that for years. I read in the computer
section of the Age newspaper some tosser saying that software was a
commodity and that developers should give it away and make money by
supporting it.
So, what if I write software that just works and doesn't need support
or services. In order to survive I must design complexity and suffering
into the product effectively making it so hard to use for the
uninitiated that they pay me or some other organisation to install,
configure, and support it for them. Now whose business model does that
sound like?
