Platform independence means, to me, that any unique strength a particular platform may have is, by definition, not used. This is another way of saying the result product is inefficient for every platform, by design. Whether that platform is iSeries, pSeries, Windows, etc. Has it occurred to anyone else that IBM's pushing of "standards" such as SQL, Java, Linux, on the iSeries instead of "native" methods has ulterior motives? That it's for IBM's good, not the customer? That it plays into the more services arena? That the whole idea is to make it so complex we _must_ use IBM or we can't even tie our shoes? Just call me the simplistic cynic. -- Jeff Crosby Dilgard Frozen Foods, Inc. P.O. Box 13369 Ft.
