It's both sad and amusing to see Yet Another Article like this one: http://crowbar.dnsalias.com:443/crowbar/000101.html It becomes clear after reading it that the actual problem is Java developers who don't know the '400, and '400 developers who don't know Java and are trying to guard their fiefdom. Or, to call it what it is: politics. One doesn't have to defend the AS/400 to see that it's nothing to do with the particular platform. I've seen the same between mainframers, midrangers, and pc folk. And, between RPG, Delphi, Visual Basic, and C++ programmers. Mix 'n Match any of these. In the end, it's always poor management that allows this sort of thing to continue, causing lost productivity, duplication of effort, and big money. We always try to look to the best tool for the job, whether that is language, platform, or methodology. Since they claim over 17,000 hits, I'm considering something like this response there if I can make it objective enough to not be dismissed out of hand.
