The problem was that the subsystem pool maxactive was set to 1 and since java is multi-threaded this would not work. I actually called IBM support for this.. They had me bump up the max active on the subsystem pool and the job end correctly. If I had just done this in the first place the job would have continued to run. This job was running in a private pool so performance management could not do this for me automatically.... J.
