I'm starting to understand there is a space where java > and RPG play nice together... After 3 years experience with java (after 10 years programming rpg) I don't see this space. rpg and java don't run well in the same context - and worse of all: this mix is not readable and maintenance is expenive and will get more expensive in future!!! Another problem of this mix is: rpg programmers have to forget nearly everything, they did in rpg, to write well designed java programs. > Defining that space is still a work in > progress but I think there is a space where each language can make a > contribution as equal partners. Might be, I don't know; but it wil be two strictly separated worlds. One little island writing business applications using rpg for the as400 and the rest of the world writing applications for as400 and all other machines in diffrent languages, most of them in java.
