Well, you *could* write your programs to handle the business logic in Java and call those Java programs from RPG programs that display the results via 5250. I'm not saying that anyone *should* do this, but I think it *could* be done for the purposes of your demonstration. Chris, I know this isn't what you're asking for, but perhaps what you guys *really* might want to do is look into adopting more of an MVC model for your development. This way, you should be able to have lots of different views (5250, Fat GUI, Web) and they're all independent of how you build your model and controller. Then, like Joe suggested, take a look at your business requirements to see how you want to build your model and your controller. Maybe RPG's better for both, or neither or one or the other depending on your situation. Personally, I think that it depends upon your particular situation more than anything. Executives tend to like platitudes and proclamations and have a one-size-fits-all mentality because it's the nature of their jobs. They can't get mired in the details. But they leave it up to the guys like us to get the job done, and sometimes the one size (whatever it may be) just does not fit. Mike E.
