The Toolbox classes won't work in a PDA type device.  The JVM on these
devices is very limited.  Not all java.* classes were ported to the JVM,
and some methods are missing in the classes that were ported.  The Toolbox
JTOpen project is creating a new set of classes that will run in the PDA's
jvm.  At this time, if you want additional information on these classes
post a question to the Toolbox forum at

All,

I am going to be implementing a WAP (PDA type) device using the J2ME
standard.  I need to access data from the AS/400 with this project.  Are
there any J2ME classes for AS/400 access available?  I am not sure if the
normal data access classes (Toolbox classes) will work in the J2ME
environment.  Also, did anyone else on the list develop wireless
applications using J2ME and connecting to the 400?
