An alternative might be to look at the system catalog files like syscolumns. If
you do this, be sure to look at the existing access paths. You may also need to
use SQL to copy some information from the native to SQL definitions.

Sorry, the RLA classes don't retrieve that data. Have you tried JDBC or
using a system API to dump the data to a file which you can read with RLA?

Hello all,
Does anybody know how to retrieve the TEXT or COLHDG of a database field?
I'm using the SequentialFile, RecordFormat, FielDescription and
AS400DataType classes
to retrieve all the information needed about database fields of a given
file.
Unfortunately the getText() method of FieldDescription does not return the
TEXT value
defined in the DDS on the system. The database fields are all defined using
reference fields.
I'm not using the open version of the toolbox. Could this make any
difference?
Is there another way to retrieve this info using java? (not system api's)
