Mark, if you're not doing serious Java work, then VAJ may not be the tool
for you.  Especially if you're doing something like a remote database access
file maintenance program.  This is something that should never see the light
of day in production, so client/server design and debugging aren't
important.

If what you want is a code generator, then you're not doing any of the OO
stuff that makes VAJ so powerful, so the IDE isn't important.  JBuilder is
probably the best of that lot (although even there, IBM's visual programming
environment isn't bad).  Actually, you might want to look into NetBeans;
it's a pretty graphical editor, and it understands layout managers and stuff
like that.
