I'll need this information when configuring our firewall. The Toolbox uses sockets support built into Java to exchange data between the client and server. That name given to the Toolbox driver is passed on to the JVM when a socket connection is created. The JVM and/or network does normal name resolution activities (go to the DNS to resolve the name, for example) to figure out the target of the connection. Do I have to add this name using WRKRDBDIRE? If I use non-native driver com.ibm.as400.access.AS400JDBCDriver() to access AS400 from PC, how the AS400 is located and connected through this name?
