Uh, no, "static" means that a method or variable is scoped to an entire class (and therefore can be accessed without instantiating the class, and used for communication between instances), while "final" means that subclasses cannot override it, and that (for a variable) it cannot be changed ONCE INITIALIZED (note that this means an uninitialized final variable can be assigned a value exactly once).
