JDBC Connection problem

When running the following code to connect to a DB2 via JDBC, the connection
time is very long or up to a minute.

Connection m_conConnection = null;
try
{
        DriverManager.registerDriver(new 
com.ibm.as400.access.AS400JDBCDriver());
        m_conConnection = DriverManager.getConnection("jdbc:as400://" + 
"MySystem",
"userid", "passwd");
        m_conConnection.close();
}

Does anyone have a clue what might be the problem.
