There seems to be a lot of overhead in connecting. One minute does seem
pretty long though. If you are using the connection in a servlet, you might
want to look into connection pooling so that the connections are already
open when they need to be used.
If you are running the code below on the AS/400, perhaps optimizing the
toolbox jar with CRTJVAPGM might help (level 30), although is is alreday
done on newer releases.
Have you tried connecting with ODBC and do you get similar results?

Subject: JDBC Connection problem

When running the following code to connect to a DB2 via JDBC, the connection
time is very long or up to a minute.

Connection m_conConnection = null;
try
{
DriverManager.registerDriver(new com.ibm.as400.access.AS400JDBCDriver());
m_conConnection = DriverManager.getConnection("jdbc:as400://" + "MySystem",
"userid", "passwd");
m_conConnection.close();
}

Does anyone have a clue what might be the problem.

Regards
