I hate  to throw a kink in the chain here but could you break this down even 
further?
The only 'goals' I've gotten from the company are:
a) we want gui interfaces
b) we want an intranet
c) we want to do fancy stuff for our customers
d) say what's this thing called 'XML' (just spent seventy dollars on a book)
e) with drop down lists,and checkboxes you think we can make this user-proof
f) and, oh by the way, can you do all this in your spare time?

One step at a time, my little dabble in Java is ballooning into a monster. -
