We have a corba servers written in Java running on an as400. We had no problems to run Corba servers on the as400. The orb is Visibroker for Java. We just moved the jar files of the orb to the as400 file system and compiled it!!! On the client side an applet calls our corba servers (on the as400). On server side we have both: - business objects written in Java - business objects written in Java and calling legacy programs via stored procedure - business objects loading data via JDBC - business objects loading data via DDM Everything works fine. Visual Age for Java is a very good tool (you need time to use it efficiently) We had no problems to move the code from NT stations to as400. For me the main problem with the as400 is the lack of tools to run or debug a Java server on the as400. If a given problem appears only on an as400 server (not on nt, for example when calling a stored proc) you have to trace everything, its tedious.
