Hello Frank,

I've been subscribed to this list for about a month, and you are the first
message I have gotten.
Either we are the only 2 subscribers or we are not getting messages. My
guess is the former situation.
We are doing actual Java development and have some applications in
production use.

We are using some classes from the AS/400 toolkit, such as data queue
and program call stuff. However, we use SQL exclusively for data base
access, even in RPG, so we haven't run into the problems you have described.
However, I want to look at the toolkit database classes and test their
performance versus SQL. SQL is a little sluggish in some circumstances.
So I can provide an opinion in a few
weeks. You may want to contact IBM with your questions. Their Java
support, including VisualAge for Java, has
been outstanding.

Let me know what you are doing in Java. We haven't found any other Java
developers to commiserate with.

Thanks,
Dave Duerr,
Duerr Business Solutions
