*Cancilla:* One of the benefits of RPG is that you can use the language
and focus on understanding a business problem. This is in sharp contrast
to, say, Java developers or C++ developers coming out of a
computer-science curriculum where the focus is almost purely on
technology. They don’t know anything about business, but they sure
understand the computer systems, they sure understand complex
programming paradigms. On the other hand, one of the benefits of the
System i architecture is its hidden technology, which means that the
business-system programmers on the platform don’t necessarily have to be
technically aware. They can focus on solving business problems.
That last sentence explains why I have always loved the IBM midrange.
