This is the order we will be doing things:

Friday night:
1. Nightly BRMS backup--Notes databases

Saturday Morning:
2. Save other Domino objects (SAVSYS, SAVLIB *NONSYS)
3. Perform Domino V6 upgrade

Next Friday:
4. GO SAVE--21 to save entire system

Next Saturday:
5. Perform V5R3 upgrade

We don't have much in the way of DB2 files/objects but we so have enough
other non-Notes stuff in the IFS that's not Domino related that we don't
want to take the time to back it up prior to the Domino upgrade. Granted,
it's nowhere near what you've got but it still takes time to save to tape.
Mostly, I want to make sure that we aren't omitting anything in the IFS
that might be Domino-related. Patrick had mentioned /qibm/userdata/lotus/*
which is something that I hadn't found yet (Thanks Patrick!).

I am a little confused by your request.

Are you going to be saving your system prior to your upgrade, yet want to
omit the data that was just saved with another backup? For example when
we do a major upgrade we want to save our entire system but omit stuff
saved with the Tivoli backup. Since that alone takes about 7 tapes on a
3582, and a lot of time.

I would think the following might be safer:
SAVSYS
SAVLIB *NONSYS (possibly omitting any recently save libraries with the
OMIT option)
SAVDLO
SAV OBJ(('/*')
        ('/QSYS.LIB' *OMIT)
        ('/QDLS' *OMIT)
        ('/Notes/ *OMIT)
       ) UPDHST(*YES)
Other than a typo (IBM forgot a parenthesis), and the additional omits,
the following was from the help on GO SAVE, 21.

Subject
Saving Domino

For starters, I'm not well versed in Domino but I'm trying to learn. We
are planning to upgrade to Domino 6 soon from V5. Our current nightly
backup backs up the /Notes folder in the IFS which gets our e-mail and
other databases. It uses BRMS and does a SAVDOMBRM. Since management
wants the system available 24/7 we rarely do anything else to it. For
this
upgrade we want to make sure that we save any non-database objects that
aren't part of our nightly backup. The upgrade is going to be done on a
weekend after the regular nightly backup runs. If we also do a SAVSYS and
SAVLIB LIB(*NONSYS) I would think that should cover the bases.

>From what I can tell these are the libraries that we are after:
QNOTES
QNOTESADVC
QNOTESAPI
QNOTESCPP
QNOTESHTST
QNOTESINT
QNOTESLSKT

In the interest of time we are trying to avoid a GO SAVE-21 although we do
want to back up what we might need. This is running on a 270 at V5R1 and
the nightly backup takes about 7.5 hours to run. We will be doing a V5R3
upgrade a week after this and will save the entire system at that time. Is
there anything else that we should be backing up for this? Thanks.
