Mike, Your a little ahead of me. I have only tested a two user SameTime meeting, although the desktop sharing worked quite well with audio and video between a LAN client and home based DSL client on our 520 value edition. One thing that is very basic and easy to overlook - check the ethernet interfaces on your 400. A lot default to only 10Mbs and Half duplex. If your network consists of 100Mbs or 1000Mbs hubs or switches, you can change the line description to *AUTO for both speed and duplex (Full duplex only works on switches, not hubs). This is a basic tip, but you might not have noticed with the lower bandwidth apps. In the same vein, check the MTU on your default (or other) route, it used to default to something paltry like 512 bytes. Change it to *IFC and you will send up to 2-3 times the data in a single packet instead of multiple packets, cutting some overhead from Internet bound transmissions. I noticed that SameTime defaults to "Secure" for everything, leading me to believe that there is a lot of encryption going on. Maybe just uncheck the "Secure Meeting" check box and try it once without. =================================== Tom Kreimer Information Alternatives We have recently installed Sametime and Quickplace on our model 825 and are running Domino 6.5.2. We started a few projects with Quickplace and it works very well. We use Sametime messaging among our IT group and it helps a lot. Recently we tried our first meeting in Sametime trying to broadcast to an audience of users inside our network and coming in via the internet . We have a T1 and when we tried the desktop share the pages were "painting" to both users inside and outside of our network. We did have a little better performance when we did a share of an application vs. sharing a desktop. Does anyone have any tips or adjustments to make to get a usable meeting environment with Sametime? We did not use the audio or video tools thinking that would help but things were still very slow. Any advise or help would be appreciated. Thanks Mike Mike Poweleit OKI Bering
