There's also this, if a client is running the mail file off of the server, it doesn't matter if the ODS is R4 or R5. If the ODS is R5, the server will convert it on the fly to be usable by the R4 client. If the client is R4 and the client is used to create a new local replica, the ODS will be R4. Another thing that you can't do is take a file copy of a R5 ODS file to an R4 client. I have found that the main thing to be on top of is the design of the mail file.
