Thanks everyone for the quick replies! I wasn't aware of the LPEX editor. Do I get there from clicking on the Websphere Development Studio desktop icon? Speaking of which, when I do click on that, it takes 2 minutes for the window to pop up. Is that normal for everyone? I'm running v5.0.1 on Win2000 SP3 with 1.6 GHz and 512 MB RAM. Is Websphere that bloated that it needs MORE than 512MB??? IBM has stated that it is being replaced with the LPEX editor in WDSc. I would take them straight to the new editor since they will have to learn it sooner or later if your shop keeps using WDSc. I'm sorry I don't have any 'wow' things for you as I don't use CODE. Things that I like though are being able to display a file layout alongside my source in the same window; having a program outline displayed alongside the source and being able to jump to any of the subroutines by simply clicking on the name in the outline frame; being able to verify source before compiling saves time; more source lines displayable at a time. A comment about your workstation sizes. As you have probably noticed many people here have mentioned that you need at least 768meg of memory. I am running with 512meg on a 1.7Ghz system and I am getting messages that my virtual memory is low. I don't do any web development so things are pretty scaled down. We tried to run WDSc on a couple of 256meg machines and it wasn't pretty. Hi, we're considering rolling out CODE to all other developers' workstations in our shop (about 4 to 6) and would like to hear other people's opinions on which features or specific functions that I should demonstrate to instantly "wow" them? I've been using WDT/400 5.1 for several months and just recently installed WDSc 5.0 with the 5.0.1 fixpack. Another developer was given a copy of the old WDT/400 version and after installing it only used it for about a week. Apparently it was not working 100% for him for some reason and doesn't have much interest in 5.0. I've not been completely converted to CODE yet myself because of its quirks and occasional errors. I admit 5.0.1 is much more stable and has fixed some of these quirks. We're running V5R1 and everyone pretty much uses SEU and SDA to develop now. We all have workstations with at least Windows 2000, 1 GHZ processors and 256MB-512MB RAM each. We'll probably only use CODE and not get much into the Websphere Development. I appreciate any comments or suggestions how to "wow" people. Obvious choices in mind are the whole Designer bit and being able to graphically layout printer files and display files, online help, compiling and debugging. Also, are there any other features that we should be using that I don't know about? Thanks! Ben Pforsich Bob Evans Farms, Inc.
