Anybody heard of TAATOOLS? I don't think Jim Sloan would have a viable
company if it were not for CL. They may not be developing it, but it's
still around. How often have you heard that the AS400 was dead? Same
thing here (in my humble opinion).

CL is not being developed nor enhanced. It is a very good but very
dead-end
product.
My own feeling is that if your design&architecture relies upon
implementation with CL you may wish to begin a re-plan for your
design&architecture. While there is nothing wrong with CL and the many
solutions it offers we've learned from experience that legacy code takes a
long long time to shift from one paradigm to another.
Therefore, whenever I see a product giving the first signs of it's
end-of-life, I start thinking about other choices. A 15-year cycle only
seems like a long time during the first 13 years. :)

Booth,
Why would you say such a thing???
How are you manipulating library lists, file member selections, and the
like? Are there APIs to do that out of RPG or COBOL? I use CL and SQL
through QMQRY all the time to update files.
