Jim,

You are passing up a real big knowledge pool!  I never had a problem with
spam from these groups.  Also, Google Groups may protect you from most
that.  I use Google groups for searching for an answer to a problem. It
works great for that.

Hmm, well, thanks anyway.  I used to do the usenet thing (newsgroups) and
had set up an Yahoo e-mail account to use as my return e-mail account.
That
account is still getting 50 spam messages a day.  Been there, done that,
got
the headache.
