Mike, thanks for the info. Can you point me (us?) to a FAQ for doing this on NT or W2k when I want to use Code, Studio & VAJava? How hard is it to make that adjustment on a daily basis? Let me clarify this a bit as it may have caused some confusion. The IBM tools _do_ require the IBM SDK (1.2) to have been installed (bet ya knew that already :-). But it does not have to be set up as the _system_ JRE. If your other tools require the 1.3 JRE simply install (or re-install) the 1.3 JRE _after_ installing WDT400 (I'm talking v4r5m1 here) and set it as the system JRE as desired and all _should_ be fine. Hi Jim It is _NOT_ required to load the IBM JDK's version of the JRE as the system JRE. I think that you should have the option of doing that when it is installing. Selecting NO when asked to install it as the system JRE is just fine. I suspect that you could fix your problem by re-installing the 1.3 JRE. Mike Mike Hockings, P.Eng. Thank you for the insight, installing the JRE from the IBM install disks did fix the problem with the communication console. It broke another application that had loaded a 1.3 (version 2?) as the system JRE. Is there any way to get the 2 applications to cooperate? I have the needed function of the Code/400 development, and the desired function of the other application. If I have to, I will leave the IBM JRE in place, but would like to be able to switch between them as needed, or to let them co-exist without my intervention. Any thoughts would be appreciated.
