The compiler neither knows nor cares about what will end up being bound to the program. It looks at the prototypes to determine (for example) that GetDayOfWeek is a subprocedure and not an array reference, so that it can validate its usage correctly, but that is all it does. If you can reproduce the slow-down I suggest you send it to IBM and let them see what they make of it. I verify this kind of stuff with Code/400 every day with no problems.
