You may not have to make the user a power user if you go through and grant
the authority manually. I haven't done this, though.

I agree, it was either a user profile problem (on W2K) or a bad install.

I have had the same issues with WDT400 on NT & W2K. I also have had it work
fine on both NT & W2K.

I am not sure I believe the web site solution of granting the Win user
"power" authority. It seems the installer and user must be the same unless
you want to manually update all the variable entries (as noted below). I use
the Win profile "Administrator" to install all apps. Not a great choice for
WDT400.

Can this be fixed in the next release?

I was having this problem, and got it corrected.

The problem is when you install the installer makes a lot of user variable
entries. Then if you sign on as a different user, that user doesn't have
those user variables set. The software will work for a while and then hang
the system.

You can either add the variables to all user variables or to the system
variables.

There is information at the Code/400 website but I can't find the url. I
had the same problem, and an IBMer posted the url so check the archives.

Is anyone having trouble running Code/400 with Windows 2000? Recently
acquired a new pc with Windows 2000. Everything I have read so far about
Windows 2000 states how stable it is. I seem to be locking up frequently
and cannot even ctrl-alt-delete to get out of it. I continually have to hit
the reset button which takes my system completely down.

On several instances, I have been in Code/400 Designer and the system has
locked. After I reset my machine and then try to open my dds file again,
the AS/400 thinks the file is in use and will not let me in until an IPL.
Even with a "WRKOBJLCK," nothing shows a lock on this file.

When I was running Windows NT, I definitely did not have these kind of
problems that the "stable" WINDOWS 2000 seems to be giving me. I have been
searching the internet for suggestions, but cannot come up with any solution
to my problem. Other users in the office also seem to be experiencing this
"lockup" problem, but they do not run CODE/400. Several have noticed that
they were in MS-WORD when it happens to them.

Any thoughts would be greatly appreciated!

Diane
