Chris, You can currently prompt for CL commands in the editor. The problem is the prompting occurs through the special STRCODE emulation session that is normally running in the background with the letters "EVFCLOGO" in the upper right hand corner. For newbies, they prompt for the CL command, and are not aware or forget the prompting is taking place in this special session. So they think nothing has happened. This new way of prompting would just have a GUI prompt window pop up. The behind the scenes communication with the AS/400 would still need to occur, but instead of the green-screen prompt on the STRCODE session, you get the new GUI prompt. In either case (GUI or green-screen), CL prompting from the editor would not run the command, but rather return the prompted command with filled-in parms back to the editor. ______________________________ Reply Separator _________________________________ Subject: Prompting CL commands in code/400 Author: CODE400-L@midrange.com at INTERNET Date: 4/27/01 10:10 AM Hi all, Ok, I'm going to show my ignorance here..... Can you not prompt CL commands in code/400? What's this message I get about starting STRCODE? Why would I need to do that and what would it do? The message seems to imply that it would execute the CL command I enter. If someone could clarify it for me I'd appreciate it!
