Dawn,
You are quite correct about OS/2 having support for both PF and LF DDS. It
is not really a matter of Windows being more complex than OS/2. We did not
have the same amount of resources and time to do the Windows implementation
as we had for OS/2. That is why we were forced to prioritize function.
Since our experience showed that LF was rather complex and did not seem to
be used as widely if did not make the cut. We did try to make the user
interface richer and more intuitive in the DSPF/PRTF portions. My hope was
that when we got to do LF, we could have a more drag-drop interface for
doing joins and a more worksheet like interface for doing CONCAT, SST etc.
Something like MS Access. Of course access to live data would be really
nice as well. But until requirement and resources are brought to bear,
this remains an idea.It seems like a lot of iSeries programmers are going to SQL for specifying
the database views.I hope this helps,

The original OS2 version of CODE/400 supported both physical and logical
files. I never understood why this was taken away when you first went to
Windows. Is Windows that much more complex?Dawn Siegrist

Hi Jim,
Your wrote in a previous note:
> Code designer does not work with logical file specs??? What's up
>with that? Is the logical spec so different than the physical spec?Logical files are far more complex than physical files. We have not
experienced enough demand for logical file to justify investing in that
function yet. However your current request will help that situation.----------------------------------------------------------------------------
