I just received a trial version of ASNA yesterday and starting to evaluate.Particularly I would like to concentrate on their DataGate/400 and DataEngines like that which access AS/400 database from Java,C++ and other applications. From a first look ASNA's VRPG is looking similar to VARPG.
BTW any idea of using printer files or reports in VARPG.I am trying to write a full report program in VARPG but I can only think of GUI which gets the input and the user has to sign on to AS/400 to check spool files for report.

Rizwan,
Thank you. I have done what you suggested, and the Videostore catalog and cashier are working.
I also wonder what IBM is doing about VRPG. I like it and it is a big improvement over the green screen.
I have stayed with the IBM version because of the free run-time feature.
What do you think of the ASNA VRPG?
Walter

The Videostore library has to be restored. You will be accessing the database files remotely from the VideoStore Application. If VideoStore Library is restored you could build the VideoStore application and when you run it will connect to the host AS/400 and access the database. It works well for me on V4R4
just wondering.IBM gave up VRPG or what?.I have installed the VideoStore and by seeing that I have developed some cool GUI's for my users ( but my boss wants me to see ASNA VRPG) .The most thing I liked is the run time which VRPG generates so easily for distributing applications to users. It helped me to understand distributing applications.

Subject: VRPG sample apps?
1) 'Programming with VRPG', SC09-2449-02, mentions a Video Store sample app,
and refers the reader to 'Installing VRPG & Code400', possibly SC09-2446-03,
but there is no mention of it in the manual or in the VRPG V4R5M1 cds.
2) The downloadable 'Ebook' application has an associated as/400 save file,
which does not restore. Pointing the GUI Designer to the extracted files
does not invoke the app - my ignorance of projects, probably.
At any rate, could anyone offer a suggestion as to how to get a working app
to guide my learning curve?
