I've got to make this quick because I've got so much Java in this PC it needs to run to the little computer's room and relieve itself. :-) The Microsoft JVM didn't do the trick. The IBM SDK & RT for 1.1.8 didn't do the trick. The Sun SDK & RT for 1.3 doesn't do the trick. I can go to a dos command line under the last two above and do a Java -version and get the expected results, but still not get beyond the "Unable to load JNI runtime library. Ensure Java is installed correctly." message in Code/400. I've alternated using the \jdk1.1.8\bin and the jdk1.3\bin in my path statement. My current path is: PATH=C:\PROGRA~1\IBM\CLIENT~1;C:\PROGRA~1\IBM\CLIENT~1\SHARED;C:\PROGRA~1\IB M\CLIENT~1\EMULATOR;C:\IBMDEBUG\BIN;C:\ADTSWIN;C:\JDK1.3\BIN;C:\NOVELL\CLIEN T32;C:\WINDOWS;C:\WINDOWS\COMMAND;C:\DMI95\WIN32\BIN;C:\READIBMW;C:\IMNNQ Anybody have an idea what I'm missing? I can't find any directions to accomplish this either, and a pointer would be very welcome. It's apparent that Java is the extender of choice for Code/400 and needed for Aldon/CMS integration, but this starting to frustrate even a VERY stubborn programmer. Anyone else on this staff would have gone back to SEU and pronounced Code/400 unworkable by now, which is NOT my goal. TIA for any more help the list can provide! -----Original Message----- From: Shaw, David [mailto:dshaw@spartan.com] Sent: Thursday, August 03, 2000 5:43 AM To: 'CODE400-L@midrange.com' Subject: RE: Java connection Tom, The Microsoft JVM is not sufficient in itself for running Code/400 Java "macros" on your PC. You also need to load the Java SDK from either Sun or IBM. Code/400 does NOT use the JVM or SDK on the /400 for this purpose. However, if this is the stick you need to get Java installed on your /400, I'd say run with it! <grin> Dave Shaw Spartan International, Inc. Spartanburg, SC -----Original Message----- From: Westdorp, Tom [mailto:tom.westdorp@stationcasinos.com] Thanks Edmund. To be sure, I dl'ed the Microsoft <shudder> Win95 JVM again, and got it's latest iteration. I reinstalled, rebooted and get the same messages from Code/400. I verified the Win95 JVM install by running Caffeine mark 3.0 (got 4749, Warp does better!). It's almost got to be the /400 that's the 'problem'. I have no listing for Java on the development box in the installed licensed programs. I assume we just did standard upgrades all along and never added the new cool stuff as it came out. We haven't used java and never needed it till Code/400 came along. Looks like two steps into the 21st century are needed now. Time to get the ops folks in gear. +--- | This is the CODE/400 Mailing List! | To submit a new message, send your mail to CODE400-L@midrange.com. | To subscribe to this list send email to CODE400-L-SUB@midrange.com. | To unsubscribe from this list send email to CODE400-L-UNSUB@midrange.com. | Questions should be directed to the list owner/operator: larry@paque.net +--- +--- | This is the CODE/400 Mailing List! | To submit a new message, send your mail to CODE400-L@midrange.com. | To subscribe to this list send email to CODE400-L-SUB@midrange.com. | To unsubscribe from this list send email to CODE400-L-UNSUB@midrange.com. | Questions should be directed to the list owner/operator: larry@paque.net +---
