Hey Thank you for responding. I have tried to end the command shell as you
have suggested and found that did not work either. I am unable to get any
functionality out of the command shell. I am using the STRCODE from of
communications in APPC network type. The job log on the AS/400 does not
show me anything that indicates an error, but I am getting a large number of
errors showing up in the EVDCERRS.LOG. Actually the log has grown to be
approx. 148 megs. The most frequent error showing in there is as follows:

EVFCTCPD.EXE Thu Jan 20 15:17:21 2000 DownloadUserSpace:QUSRUSAT:Error
retrieveing attributes CPF9801.

Here is what is showing up in my AS/400 job log while the STRCODE command is
running:

STRCODE RMTLOCNAME(P0101C03) CMNTYPE(*APPC)

The job's CCSID value is changed from 65535 to 00037 while the STRCODE
 command is active
Default information for STRCODE retrieved successfully
Device changed in file EVFCICFF in library ETBLIB
Not authorized to access document QPTFIDX in folder QCODE400
Not authorized to access document QPTFIDX in folder QVRPG
Not authorized to access document QPTFIDX in folder QADTSCS
Your STRCODE defaults have not been updated. STRCODE defaults can not be
created or updated in library *NONE.

It seems that in a lot of cases when I do try to do anything in the code
editor or Code Project...etc. The CODE Daemon is automatically starting.
Can this be disabled in these applications or what might be going on? On a
side note, what is VCOM?

Please let me know if this is making any more sense.

Thanks Ed Buckingham
