Our ILE COBOL/400 manual is from 1996; perhaps that's why there is no reference to the "CONTINUE RUN UNIT" option of EXIT PROGRAM. With code/400 help, as you indicated, I discovered the format is EXIT PROGRAM AND CONTINUE RUN UNIT. After replacing the GOBACK's with this statement, I was able to remove the OVRSCOPE(*CALLLVL) option from the OVRDBF statements in the CL program. Thanks, once again, for your assistance.

Perhaps that is the problem.

GOBACK is a dangerous one if maintaining the run unit is important, because
it will become a STOP RUN if the program is the root of the run unit.

None that I can think of - why would you think there would be?

Well I'm looking at the on-line version in CODE and it is there.  Are you
sure you're not looking at the OPM COBOL manual?
