I guess I think it's pretty strange to condition a basic prototype like that of snprintf on an OS version. Surely the snprintf prototype was really introduced much earlier.
I don't think the snprintf() had yet been incorporated into the C runtime library in V5R1. So, obviously having a prototype wouldn't do you much good...
