Update:

The system administrator of the box in question send me this info
today. We don't yet know if it will solve the problem, but it does seem to
be useful progress. I will continue to inform of material progress.

"IBM gave me an answer to the problem with debugging C and C++ programs.
The problem is when you debug a C program it does not show the source. The
APAR is SE07226 they do have a work around for the problem. It is to remove
PTF SI04866 for product 5722SS1 Now the bad news I have that PTF applied
Permanently, so I can not remove it easily. But it now looks like they have
PTF's for the problem, they are SE06519 and SE06520 I have ordered them
both, they have to be mailed. I look to have them 12/11/02."

Nothing as yet. I'll inform the list of any progress. I wound up
debugging my program on V5R2, and then just moving the updated bits back to
the V5R1 box.

Did you learn anything from IBM? I'm having the same problem. PhilAt 06:43

Well I could not find any PTF's for V5R1. I did try and compile the same
program the same way on V5R2 and the debugger worked.

I'm out of ideas.....................

Me too. I've now successfully been able to get the source debugger working
on V4R5 and V5R2, but not V5R1.

I spoke to the person running the machine. To rule out a security issue,
he tried to compile as QSECOFR, with no success. He also de-installed and
re-installed the C compiler, again with no success. He's going to contact
IBM next.

Thank you for your help

Rich
