Simon, I have not tried this personally (yet) but I've done a fair bit of reading. The Unix Porting guide (SG24-4438) mentions that if you use pipe() you need to have library QCPA installed. Also, you probably already know that the standard descriptors aren't connected to anything (0=STDIN, 1=STDOUT, 2=STDERR) on OS/400 unless you're running in the PASE.
