We have noticed that - had no idea where or from what transaction code
it was coming from?

Don - Related to Dan's point #2 - there are occasional instances
in which transfers do not process totally correctly, and you end up with
different balances in ILI from IWI or IIM. Without the ITH reference, it
would be tough to figure which is correct. If you haven't experienced
this problem, you are either lucky or no one has noticed it.

Don,
There might be 2 draw backs to your logic:
1. If your company requires any G/L postings from these transfer types
(T) then there wouldn't be any transactions to fulfill this requirement.
2. When the users are using INV300 and looking at the historical
transactions (F21) then, there won't be any transactions in the ITH file
to support a balance forward in a particular warehouse and/or
lot/location combination. It might be confusing to the users.
When the user presses F/21 for historical transactions the system will
read the ITH file starting with the latest transaction sequence in the
item master file and then starts reading the transaction history file
(ITH) starting with the number retrieved in the IIM file and then reads
backwards.
There aren't any negative impacts on any period end close programs at
all.

Subject: [BPCS-L] ITH - Transfer type records
Greetings,
405CD - I am thinking about dropping the writing of records to the ITH
file for Transfer Type transactions (they dominate the type of record in
our ITH file).
I was wondering if anyone could tell whether or not there would be any
"negative" impact on the month-end Cost and/or Accounting close programs
- i.e., any errors which may pop up w/o these trasactions being in the
file? I would only stop the writing of the Transfer from/to records to
ITH - all other file logic would remain the same (in the transfer
program).
