For your consideration:
In your configurator structure define a category for special paint. Group  
the colors under that category and link them to activate an (outside?) 
operation 
 specific to that color. Assumption here is all seven get the same color but 
that  is not a limitation. If the colors are mixed, have to find a way to 
associate  the item with the color. 
 
If possible I would avoid associating each item to a special color, but  
rather indicate which special color is present and it applies to the usual  
suspects (the gang of seven).
 
Should be able to copy and reuse in multiple models.
