Hello Otto,Steve is right, some SQL indexes will help. So will the BPCS Archiving! Dean has already mentioned this - it is sold as 'Locksmith' in the US, but you can get a demo copy from us in Europe, (and we directors of Small Blue worked on BPCS with several companies in the Czech Republic during the 90s - Ferona for example.) What the BPCS Archiving does is to remove the older records to a separate database where they can still be queried if required, but where they do not impact transaction times. And not just for the RAR, but for all areas of BPCS, and many files that impact many transaction programs, such as CMF and ZPD etc. A combination of Archiving and database tuning (creating indexes etc) has never failed yet to dramatically speed up the run times of month-end programs(for example 3 hours plus down to 20 minutes - Novartis Dublin), nor to have users jumping up and down when they suddenly get 'the response times we had 3 years ago' (to quote Baxters Soups!) Feel free to contact us or Unbeaten Path for a demo copy of the Archiving or any of our other BPCS add-ons, or to arrange a tuning via dial-up.
